Badelle walked serenely through the hordes of two-leggers. Despite the cold temperatures, they still ventured out when there wasn't any precipitation falling from the dark clouds that hung ominiously overhead. Her saphire orbs looked around, taking in all the humans "strolling" around, all bundled up in their thick down coats, trying not to look as if they were cold. Badelle knew they were though, there was no doubt about it. The way they shivered and rubbed their hands when they thought no one was looking. The way they hurried from place to place as though trying to keep themselves warm. Inwardly, she laughed at them. Her thick pelt was all she needed to keep her warm. Her breed havong been bred to survive in the Arctic, she loved the winter.

She kept on her way, slowly but surely making her way to the beautiful fountain in the center. This was her favorite place in the city, in any season, but especially in winter. The water that flowed looked so fresh and crisp, and blue that she just loved it. Coming up to it, she raised herself up on to her backs paws, resting her fore pads upon the ridge and gazing down at the crystal blue pools nbeneath her.

His droopy muzzle to the ground, the heavy-set brute trotted on his way, curious about all the many sights and sounds that floated around the area. It was mostly dominated by the scents of humans as they bustled about in a hurry, some with bags in their hands and talking to each other about something called "Kristmess". Having never lived among humans, the Saint Bernard had no idea what this thing was or why so many humans looked forward to it but he paid it all no mind. No skin off his back...

Eventually his wandering brought him to a wide open area. In the center a big fountain rose high over the tall animal's head, water spewing from its peak and falling down gracefully into the poll beneath. Gorgeous... despite all the two-leggeds that were hovering around it. Paying them no mind, the brute moved forward swiftly, curious about this fountain thing. How did it spew water like that? Could he drink the water? Reaching the edge with no problem, he proceeded to rear onto his hind legs, forepaws hooked over the concrete edge and deep brown orbs looking down into the depths of the pool.

He was surprised to find the reflection of a husky-like dog positioned a little ways from his. Though confused as to why he had no sensed its presence, the bru looked up anyway, never one to be rude. Standing across the fountain was the owner of the reflection, a beautiful husky fae in a very similar position to his own. Offering her a smile, he called out in a deep yet friendly voice.

"'Ello there."

Badelle was staring straight through the water, just gazing at it, with her eflection gazing back at her. She was so engrossed with her thoughts that she wasn't aware of the other canine that was slowly approaching her. Because of all the noise and scent being emmitted by the two-leggers she had tuned out her scenses, not expecting anyone to just come along. Which explains why her dial jerked up with a start when the Saint Bernard spoke to her in his rather deep voice. All of a sudden, her senses came flooding back, and his scent filled her nostrils. Composing herself quickly, her own lyrics rang out a soft greeting.

"Oh, hello there, I, um, didn't see you coming."

Her crystal clear orbs met his as she watched him, dial raised slightly to one side. Her banner, resting on the cobblestones behind her, swung lightly back and forth, just barely betraying her mod at having met another canine where she had thought there had been none but house pets out on walks.

"Originally, neither did I notice you."

Laughing lightly, the brute sat back a bit, resting back on his haunches rather than standing on them as he had been. His bones were too old for that.. Though most dogs wouldn't consider five very old, Saint Bernards on average only get up to 10 years so, in this guy's case, it was older than he'd like. Still, one should be thankful for every day that they wake up to greet, no matter what their age. Hopping off of the fountain edge, the bru strode around one side, his floppy ears waving in the wind as he moved. Finally, he found himself beside the husky, looking up at he slightly.

"I'm Chomper. Chomps if you must."

the heavy jowls that gave the brute his name lifted slightly to reveal a warm smile. Unbeknown to the Saint Bernard but probably to those around him, he had a slightly English accent, noticeable in the greeting he gave the fae and some of the other things he said. If anything, it only made him more charming.

"Who might you be lovely?"

Badelle's lips stretched into a soft smile as he returned her greeting with the confession that she had surprised him as well. That was just as well, that way neither of them would be too embarrassed as they had both surprised each other. She watched him carefully as he took his fore pads off the edge and slowly ambled over towards her; despiste his size, only his back and the top of his head was visible to her as he walked, until he rounded the slow corner. As he came up beside her and swung his haunches down, she did the same, pads coming round to hit the cobblestones with hardly a sound and the same wiht her haunches. Her bushy-tailed banner, which had been waving side to side for a bit, slowed it's movement and wrapped itself around her fore legs, it's darkened tip rest on top of her large mitts. As she listened to him introduce himself, she found his slight accent charming. Most canines around here spoke decidedly American, as they were obviously in America. Her sweet, lyrical tones voiced the answer he had requested.

"I am Badelle, and it is a very nice pleasure to meet you, Chomper."

"Badelle... An interesting name. Does it mean anything?"

Shifting into a sit, the Saint regarded the fae with a curious gaze hoping she wouldn't find his pathetic attempt at conversation too invading. It was an honest question. Not many creature walked this earth with such an extravagant calling. It was certainly nothing like Butch or Brutus or Gus, or probably even Chomper. The male had never met another with the same name as he but he wouldn't be surprised if he did.

Letting his tail sway from side to side slowly, chocolate gaze shifted momentarily to a human that walked passed the pair, running her gloved hand first over the husky's head and then over the Bernard with out stopping. She was totally unaware of the dangers of such an action. Pet the wrong stray and you loose your whole hand. But, the event was soon forgotten and all attention was returned to the husky.

Just so you know Badelle, that pink writing is almost impossible to read on the light coloured background!

± Yes, I know, but I can't find another color that fits her personality that does show up, so I'll just stick with this one. Thanks for putting me onto the dark background though ^^ ±

Her dial resting to one side, Badelle gazed curiously at the large bru. He thought her name extravagant? Interesting, she'd never thought if it as such. She'd just thought of it as, well, to be honest, nothing but her name. None had ever questioned her on it before, and she hadn't thought about it much herself. She'd been born and then abandoned, living all her life in the city. She hadn't named herself and she hadn't spent enough time with the one who had named her to find out if it meant anything.

"Thank you, but I really don't know if it means anything or not. I've never really thought about it."

Badelle's saphire orbs peirced right through his, almost as if she could see through him. As she felt the movement of a hands on the top of her crown, her dial snapped back and she glared up at the lady who had hurriedly walked on. Humans no clue the type of risk they were taking to just walk by and pet a stray. You pet the wrong one, and bam, you can kiss your hand good-bye. She quickly turned her attention back to Chomper after watching the human disappear into the crowd.

"So, you sound as if you aren't from around here. Your accent is refreshing, but may I ask where you come from?"

The saint just nodded smoothly when the fae said she was unaware of her name's meaning. That's a shame. It probably meant something fanciful like 'mystical' or 'delight' or something along those lines. No matter. He was too lazy to pursue such mindless tasks any further than the immediate area. Pausing to scratch the back of a folded peak, glanced out of the corner of his eye warmly as she asked him a question. Waiting until the scratching was finished and shaking himself briskly when such a time came, the brute finally got around to answering.

"No not from 'ere. I was born in New England. Live where I wanna though."

He paused again, just to glance around a be sure there was nothing afoot.

"What about you?"

((Sorry it's so short. Gotta go to school...))

± Sorry sorry sorry Chomps! I've just had no muse lately and been realy bsy and no offense, but your post didn't give me a lot to lead off of, I know you had a reason and all, but I'm much better when I have someone else's post to lead off of. ±

Badelle was well aware that it was a shame not to know what her calling meant, but it was fine with her. She loved her name and thought it sounded elegant and, well, even a bit sofisticated. She also knew it suited her, with her naturally kind nature, the name just seemed to emitt, well, kindness. Her calm, complacent expression watched patiently as he contented the itching sensation behind his tip with a few minutes of vigorious scratching. As he finally seemed completely satisfied and answered her, she was not surprised by the reply. He certainly didn't sound as if he was from around here. Her own, nonaccented, lyrics spoke through sweetly.

"That is nice, I had thought you weren't from around here. I admire your accent however. It is such a nice break from the bland tones of most dogs around here. As for myself I am new, but only to this city, not this area. I come from a city soemwhere a bit south and a bit east."

((Heheh. Don't worry about it, know exactly what you mean. Sorry about the bad post. ;)))

The Saint couldn't help but smile big when his accent was mentioned. It was flattering to hear that she liked it. The big brute had always assumed it made him sound funny, sound serious and sophisticated, both of which he wasn't. But if there was anything that made him the happiest creature in the world, it was seeing the creature's around him happy as well. Nodding understandingly as she spoke, the massive bru laughed a little as she mentioned the b;and way city dogs spoke. She was right, they seemed to drone on in some cases. Not this one, of course. This husky had a very sing-song sweet way of speaking, but others... bleh.

"Nice to hear you approve."

Chocolate orb winked closed playfully, pink pallet sticking out in a stupid manner before the Bernard let his puppy-ish behavior pass. Thoughtfully glancing to the sky, the bru squinted suspiciously at the clouds forming overhead. The sky seemed to be colored a deep gray, an obvious sign of snow to come. Well, they could theoretically stay where they were, both being built for the snow and subzero temperatures... but Chomper felt like that was a bad idea for some reason. Shifting his gaze back to the fae, he gave her a thoughtful nod.

"We should find some cover. It looks like it's fixen to snow a lil' bit. Unless of course, you'd rather stay 'ere?"
